Metal Straws and Plant Based Nutrition:
I am Little Big Eagle from the Chowanoke Nation based in Ahoskie, North Carolina and had the privilege to carry Earth 12 so that I may help spread awareness in an effort to preserve our Earth. As a Native American, I have a connectedness to the land, water, sky, and all things living—it’s more of a deep respect for nature so to see our resources become contaminated and diminish is painful. And what a shame because when in balance there is tremendous abundance and power in plants, animals, trees, and the land. Take plant based nutrition for example, Blue Algae* in particular, it’s not only beautiful but it’s the Earth’s most perfect and ancient food. And it’s powerful as well providing more than 3 times as much protein as animal food sources, not to mention essential anti- inflammatory properties!
Also as a indigenous person I can’t help but to feel that I have unique responsibility to help care for the Earth by reducing single use items such as styrofoam cups, plastics, and & straws in recycling endeavors. Straws in particular since nearly 5 million are thrown out daily and cannot be recycled. My husband and I take our metal straws everywhere and use them daily.
